Artist statement
Mary Antoinette Weigel is an artist working in digital and fine art mediums. Her work ranges from acrylic painting and oil pastel to  surrealist photography mashups, frequently combining collage-like approaches with traditional art-making techniques.
Her work delves into metaphysical themes of consciousness, qualia, and the fabric of time & space. Drawing from personal experience and her philosophical studies at UC Berkeley, she aims to capture a fundamental human understanding beyond scientific articulation.
Mary's work combines vibrant colors, darkened ink drawings, and symbolic motifs like spirals, stars, and bones. Her creative process is deeply spiritual, personal, and visceral.
Recognized with multiple awards, her work has been showcased in juried and solo exhibitions across California. Mary continues to make art in Berkeley.
